Sheyla Paz Hicks

Born in a small town called Mayarí, Santiago de Cuba, Sheyla showed her inclination for the art at an early age. She used to perform in school and later studied at Frank Pais Garcia and graduated as a Music Teacher for Kindergarten. While studying her career, she studied plastic art where she had outstanding grades.

Sheyla has worked as a music teacher, a music band Manager and Producer in Cuba also performed with a band before moving to the United States in December of 2000. After a couple of years of working as a model and actress in her new hometown of Nashville, Tennessee; Sheyla launched her own production company Paz Communications and through it produced a TV show called, Spanish-TV. A 30-minute television show featuring the local news as well as entertainment news, public school information, health issues, cooking recipes, local events and more to the Spanish-speaking population in Middle Tennessee.

Her passion for photography came about 20 years ago when she met her husband, and he always wanted more pictures of her. So, she self-taught herself how to take photos. In May 2012 guided by the demand for more online content targeting the growing Latino population in the U.S., Sheyla decided to launch ENTERTAINMENT CIRCLE NETWORK (ECN) as an online channel.

Throughout her career as TV producer and host of her own TV show, Ms. Paz has covered several awards shows including the Dove Awards, American Country Awards and the Academy Awards (Oscars) and has interviewed renown artists such as José Feliciano, Oscar De La Renta, Carrie Underwood, Film Director Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritú, Oscar De Leon, Robin Roberts, and many more.

Sheyla produced interviews that she conducted with country artists for a segment on The Smith & Rogers County Show in the UK which aired on national television. Sheyla is very involved in the local community, doing volunteer work with the Art2Stem program at Alignment Nashville and the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools as well as the Tennessee Latin American Chamber and served on the board of Women in Film and Television, Nashville as the Communications Director. More recently, she was named Vice President/Co-Director of Diversity Engagement & Programming of the newly founded organization Tennessee Women in Film & Media. More recently, Sheyla Paz was one of the few independent journalists selected to travel to Cuba with President Obama as part of the White House Press Corp.
